Documentaries

The following films feature my major solo ultra marathons.  Both of these documentaries have been produced by Run Against Violence for the purpose of engaging communities in family violence prevention.

The Steps Together Ultra Marathon

For 19 days in 2017, solo ultra marathon runner, Kirrily Dear, ran 1300km from Broken Hill to Sydney to give a voice to the often silent victims of family violence.

Family and domestic violence is increasingly being recognised as the social challenge of our time. Public conversation around the issue is building; however, we often overlook the children - those who hear and see the violence, or are directly targeted. Too often, these children don’t have the chance to tell their own story. The Steps Together Ultra Marathon is a documentary that follows the journey and shows how one person's determination to take steps can make life better for others.

Iceberg

During November 2014, one woman ran 860km through Western NSW to bring awareness to the massive issue of domestic violence in our communities. what she discovered was just the tip of the Iceberg. So far this story has been put together by the generous contributions of the community because they want to do what they can to get this story told.
